May cool spring breezes extend your season

The cool spring gave us a wonderful display of flowering bulbs, shrubs and trees. We were very busy delivering truck loads of nursery stock, turf products, annuals and perennials.

Our season kicked off with preparations for the prestigious Philadelphia Flower Show. As a consultant, Bill worked closely with the top competitor’s team.

We also completed our latest landscape project in Manhattan. Marie designed this project to accentuate the buildings existing plantings while adding color and texture to the concrete surroundings.

Previously referred to as ‘the pit’, it is now an oasis for people and our feathered friends.

As summer approaches our gears shift to flower bulbs. We review the performance of our customer’s bulbs and analyze the results in our own trial garden. Bill keeps close contact with the bulb growers/exporters to learn of the latest and best varieties for our customers needs.

June also finds us working in and enjoying our garden; transplanting shrubs and perennials, building stone walls, and smelling the roses. “Gardening is life’s purest pleasure”

Besides supporting several garden club tours, Marie recently attended the WAFA’s 10th World Flower Show held in Boston. Accomplished flower arrangers/designers from 30 countries worldwide come together to compete and share ideas. Truly inspiring; a cultural celebration of art and nature.

The end of June also brings preparation for the annual Newport Flower Show. Bill attended and supported the team from PA. We didn’t personally compete this year although, in years past, we have taken several first place ribbons.
