Welcoming the New Year and all its Possibilities!

Early January offers us some time for reflection of the year past as well as planning for the upcoming season.

We had the long awaited pleasure of touring Italy this past September finding inspiration in the centuries old gardens; Tivoli’s Villa d’Este with its terraced gardens and 500 fountains (the ultimate ‘water feature’!) and Florence’s 16th century Boboli Gardens, said to influence modern day estate landscape.

In early October, Bill gave a bulb forcing lecture as guest speaker at the Goshen Garden Club. His talk on best varieties and methods for forcing was received with enthusiasm from novices as well as seasoned gardeners. Good luck to all who attended!

In spite of the early New England snow storm, Bill was busy with bulb orders and deliveries through mid December. The mild fall temperatures allowed for continued interest and late bulb plantings; a successful season for all.

Bill keeps his passion for growing satisfied during the long winter months through his plant room. The room is in full bloom with paper whites, hyacinths, and amaryllis; a refreshing contrast to the browns and grays outside. Bill is also calling on customers to be sure their bulbs are forcing well in preparation for the upcoming flower shows.

As always, we look forward with anticipation for the spring bloom and the promise of warm summer breezes.
